Perception and Reality Collide

“It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.” ― Ronald Reagan

Three turds were arrested in two Winston-Salem homes where police executed search warrants and charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree trespassing. They are being held at the Davidson County Detention Center with bonds set at $250,000 each.  Police-arrest-suspects-in-Richard-Childress-home-invasion

I remember reading the newspaper when I was growing up and it was routine for the race and sex of people who were the objects of a story to be reported as paart of the routine details of the story. At some point, I would guess in the seventies, liberals claimed identifying minorities by the race and sex was stigmatizing and the practice stopped.

Throughout the remainder of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s into the new milenium the reader was left largely on their own to guess the race of various press subjects. While the last name  of a founding father maybe indicative of minority status, it is by no means assured.

However, I have noticed a trend that has its origins in the minoity community and seems to remove all doubt as the race of the offender let me introduce you to Niquan Victorin, 20, Chantz Kade Hines, 18, and Armeka Vantonne Spinks, 18 the offenders in the home invasion. They ain’t Irish!

It is almost as if the minority community is compensating. The thinking seems to be: First they dropped our race from the newspaer stories. Then they stopped carrying pictures during perp walks. But they gotta provide a name and that’s where we will get them.

The bottom line is in some communities a felony conviction is not a stigma, but a point of pride. This is not necessarily a racial thing, it seems to work just fine in politics.
