LBJ Redux

LBJ’s greatest achievement, aside from a parade in Dallas, is his “Great Society.” Tammany Hall a corrupt democrat organization was confined to New York. It lacked the national impact that LBJ sought. It was limited in that its funding was via local corruption.

LBJ changed everything when he created the “Great Society” and got the government to fund corrupt democrat activities.

It was never about helping the poor and downtrodden.

Tammany hall created jobs and handed them out to the party faithful. The organization ensured that government contracts were awarded to politically acceptable companies. The hall was also capable of punishing people and organizations deemed a threat through various regulatory schemes. Here is how Wikipedia, the lazy man’s research tool describes it.

Tammany Hall, also known as the Society of St. Tammany, the Sons of St. Tammany, or the Columbian Order, was a New York City political organization founded in 1786 and incorporated on May 12, 1789, as the Tammany Society. It was the Democratic Party political machine that played a major role in controlling New York City and New York State politics and helping immigrants, most notably the Irish, rise in American politics from the 1790s to the 1960s. It typically controlled Democratic Party nominations and political patronage in Manhattan after the mayoral victory of Fernando Wood in 1854, and used its patronage resources to build a loyal, well-rewarded core of district and precinct leaders; after 1850 the great majority were Irish Catholics.

Wikipedia

The Great society created patronage jobs, Head Start, welfare bureaucrats, public housing administrators, food stamp purveyors, and a wide variety of low paying jobs to support the monster. Compare and contrast the antics of Tammany Hall and the Great Society Welfare State. There is no discernible difference between the two.

Here is a story out of Seattle. The City of Seattle just awarded a contract to a company to clean up homeless encampments. The winning bidder is charging the city $435 per man hour to perform the task.

Let’s climb on this Merry-Go-Round for a moment. There are a combination of sate laws and city ordinances that likely prohibit littering, public exposure, public intoxication (drugs or alcohol) and trespassing. By not enforcing these laws the city created a climate where these activities appear to be sanctioned. To make matters worse many cities enforce such laws in one area but not another. Word soon gets out and the dregs soon congregate and concentrate in areas acceptable to authorities. Increased population results in increased trash. This necessitates a letting a contract to clean up the mess that the city created.

Remember the money spent on this contract is for the homeless. They may not see any benefit but the contractors and bureaucrats sure do thank them.

You say democrat. I say Pond scum. Same, same.
