The largest wildfire in Texas history is raging in the Texas panhandle. The Texas forest service has mobilized to fight the fire. According to the forest service, they have enough equipment and water to fight the fire but are running dangerously short of munchies. Word is that a call has gone out to retool the factory to manufacture Screaming Yellow Zonkers. The factory was shut down in 2007.

During WWII panhandle farmers were encouraged to plant hemp (marijuana) in order to meet the rope needs of the Navy. After the war production ceased but the plants grew wild. One panhandle Sheriff led the state in marijuana plant seizures every year. Legend has it that one year his department seized in excess of five million plants.

This is where the term “ditch weed” came into being. Smokers could cop a high, provided they were able to roll a Tommy Chong sized joint.
