Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: “Two assholes got into an argument and one of them got dragged out of his car and handcuffed.

This incident proves what I have always maintained. Traffic enforcement is very important. It gives really stupid cops something to do…
Let’s review. Motor jockey stops a large black man driving a car worth a quarter of a million dollars a block from the football stadium a short time before the game starts. The large black man starts acting like a horse’s ass. What’s a motor jockey to do? I know, I know! Show him that two can play that game.
A real police would have stepped back and said, “Have a nice day.” Let me translate that last statement into cop speak, “Fuck you.”
I am not kinder gentler. I have slam dunked my share of suspects, but not for a traffic ticket.
Body cameras weren’t around when I was working as a cop. Some folks claim that they are a useful tool. A smart cop would have walked away. How hard would it be to contact the team and say, “Hey coach I’ve got a game day film that you need to see.”
No fuss, no muss and the team fine for Tyreek’s actions would have been in the thousands of dollars rather that the hundred bucks the traffic court would have collected.
Years ago, I went after a speeder on the Interstate. Chief said we couldn’t write tickets for violations on the interstate. He didn’t say anything about making stops. At any rate the driver immediately exited the highway. At the top of the exit ramp was the entrance to the hospital. He pulled in and parked at the Emergency Room. When I contacted the driver, he claimed that he was experiencing chest pains. With the aid of a paramedic, we hustled the patient into a treatment room.
The ER doc soon joined the patient and began his assessment. The doctor joined the paramedic and me with a what the hell expression on his face. I explained that the guy was feigning a heart attack to avoid a traffic ticket. The doctor asked how much the traffic fine would be. I explained to him, nothing. I wasn’t going to issue him a ticket.
The doctor grinned and turned to a nurse and ordered blood work and other tests. “Well, he ain’t getting out of here for less than a thousand bucks.”
You can beat the rap, but you can’t beat the ride.
