Howie Carr does a follow up on a prostitution investigation conducted by the Feds. It resulted in the arrest of the whores and their pimps in the Boston and Washington DC area. They operated brothels in high dollar apartments in both cities. As Steve Miller once pointed out: “Your cash ain’t nothing but trash.” Services were paid by credit card. Local cops wanted to charge the “Johns” (customers). It hasn’t happened.
Last November, when acting U.S. attorney Josh Levy announced the charges against the three “operators,” he noted that the johns included “a wide array of buyers.”

Meaning, Levy said, “politicians, high tech and pharmaceutical executives, doctors, military officers, government contractors that possess security clearances, professors, lawyers, scientists and accountants.”
A funny thing happened on the way to the courthouse. None of the “Johns” have been identified, in the press. In fact, the Johns are seeking to have the hearings closed to keep the identity of the Johns from being exposed. I’m old, it’s been a long time, but I’m pretty sure that Daniel Ellsberg’s Pentagon Papers trial (dealing with national security) was more open than that of these Johns.
The attorneys for the Johns is concerned that if they are identified as patrons of prostitutes, they will be ostracized. They might lose their jobs. Okay, forget about the fact that these guys got caught up in a situation where they were making the beast with two backs with someone not their spouse. I want to know about the credit cards.
I’m guessing that the Feds identified the Johns via the trick book, emails and credit card transactions. I’m also guessing that none of the credit card transactions are straight forward. I doubt that the vendor is identified as “Sloppy Sue’s Whorehouse and Massage Parlor. I’m pretty sure the services rendered aren’t described as a blow job. More likely the receipt will identify a legitimate business and service. Something like, “Alice’s Restaurant” and businessman’s lunch. Yeah, so what?
The so what is that these arrogant assholes have demonstrated that they are more than willing to break the law. Why stop at a blow job? How many of the credit cards were corporate cards? How many of those businessman’s lunches got written off and charged to the business and then passed on to the client. Run the string all the way out and it is likely that the government paid for the head job these guys received.
What makes these guys so special? Cops all over the country conduct prostitution stings all of the time. It makes for great local news coverage. Mommy, Mommy daddy got his picture in the newspaper!
Parse it any way you want the only difference between these two groups of Johns is one group got their picture in the paper. Howie may have the correct take on why this came about. I think the deeper concern is the money laundering, fraud and theft committed by the Johns he writes about.
Several years ago, Bexar County elected a District Attorney who had been previously convicted of selling controlled substances to an undercover cop. Daddy was a political big wig in Bexar County and junior received a pardon. This allowed him to argue that he was not a convicted felon. Okay, but the pardon does nothing to negate the fact that he was a dope dealer.
I’m resigned to the fact that the government is going to screw me every chance they get, that’s just the way it is. But I gotta draw the line at paying for somebody else’s blow job.
