Tennessee inmate’s execution put on hold due to COVID-19

FILE – This undated file photo provided by the Tennessee Department of Correction shows Byron Black. The Tennessee Supreme Court has granted a six-month delay in the execution to Byron Black, who was scheduled to die in October 2020. Black’s attorneys had asked for a stay because of the difficulty of preparing an appeal. The execution was rescheduled for April 8, 2021. (Tennessee Department of Correction via AP, File)

I guess the logic for this is from the same school that mandates that alcohol swabs be used on the condemned prisoner’s arm prior to inserting the needle. Afterall we wouldn’t want him/her to get an infection.

I’m just a broke down old retired narc. I didn’t go to law school. I haven’t stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. It seems to me that carrying out the execution would eliminate any concerns regarding COVID-19. If he had symptoms of the Chinese flu then the execution would keep them from getting worse. If he didn’t have symptoms the execution would remove any fear that he would contract the disease.
