Street rampages seem to be a sign of the times. It is tough to identify the players or the cause without a program. Here are two examples:

In the first monkeys terrorize a neighborhood because their food supply is cut off. Tourists think they are cute and feed them. The Chinese virus has shut down the flow of tourists. No more free lunch.

In the second photo, a mob destroys a statue, because that is what mobs do.

In the first example there is a collective intelligence at work with a rational goal in mind. Get food. In the second, there is no rational goal, no collective intelligence.
