Compare and Contrast

It’s only a threat when Republicans say it.

There is a double standard out there. When a Republican talks to the FBI and leaves out pertinent information, because of faulty memory it is a crime. When a democrat sets up an illegal e-mail server and hires and pays a firm to maintain the system, contrary to law, it is not a violation. The FBI is unable to demonstrate a culpable metal state for a violation that doesn’t require a culpable mental state.

Schumer threatens two Supreme Court justices in order to influence a decision on a matter before the court. Not a problem. Let’s review the nature of threats. At the link:

Some speech is more protected than others

On the other hand, a disgruntled UPS driver found that free speech only goes so far. I’m not defending this guy. He published threats on the Internet towards his employer. In the articles I read that is as far as it went. The cops raided his home and found weapons and ammunition.

After Andrews was apprehended, police searched his home and found more than 20,000 rounds of handgun and rifle ammunition, numerous high capacity magazines, five tactical-style rifles, a shotgun, three handguns and body armor, according to officials.

Tactical backpacks with ammunition were staged at the front door, the department said.

USA Today

Read that quote real fast. This guy was ready to rock and roll. Now read it again. The cops found a bunch of guns and ammunition, that is if you call 8 a bunch. I’m old. I’ve only got four. In my heyday, in a home with a roommate, we didn’t have enough fingers and toes to track the number of guns we had. It’s all relative.

Next, step outside your front door, turn around. What do you see within arms reach of the front door? I going to make a SWAG. SWAG, for those unfamiliar with the term stands for Slightly Wild Assed Guess. It is a technical term from law enforcement. Chances are within your field of vision is a closet. Go back to the quote, ” Tactical backpacks with ammunition were staged at the front door ….”

I store things in a closet. I guess that could be “staged.” Not my first choice of descriptors.

A shooter with multiple guns needs a way to transport them. Along with the guns there are other items, spare ammunition, additional magazines, cleaning kit, tool kit, and hearing protection. I know what a backpack is. I’m not sure what a tactical backpack is. I guess it is black and has icky straps and Velcro.

But, but, but… That’s different

Who can forget this blast from the past?

It’s one thing when a school administration does something stupid. The administration is made up of educators and the bar for common sense is low to non existent. However, as the link demonstrates the court got into the act and validated the school’s actions.

The judge pointed out that the kid was a problem child and the school was justified in its action without the pop tart. That may be. However the fact remains that the school hung their hat on the pop tart gun. That action undermines the credibility of the school and the court.

The Beat Goes On:

I reported on this in February. The school district wanted to arrest a six-year-old Downs Syndrome girl for giving the gunman’s salute. The cops refused to play.

I thought it might be helpful to include this last list of homonyms. This is not an all inclusive list. A homonym is a pair of words that sound the same but have different meanings. Improper use and understanding can change an entire train of thought.

When democrats talk about justice what they really mean is just us. As in “The rules apply to everybody. Just us will determine their application.” Be careful how you eat your pop tart, or point your finger, it could be construed as a threat. Just us democrats threatening the Supreme Court, not a problem.
