Common Ground

The President spoke about the shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, where eleven people were killed. The shooter acted out of animus against Jews. It is good to see the President condemn such an act. His remarks should serve to unite conservatives and liberals in a common cause. The elimination of Antisemitism from our world.

Before going any further I want to address the horrible shooting that took place earlier today. The hearts of all Americans are filled with grief following the monstrous killing of Jewish Americans at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
This evil anti-Semitic attack is an assault on all of us. It’s an assault on humanity. It will require all of us working together to extract the hateful poison of Antisemitism from our world. This was an anti-Semitic attack at its worst. The scourge of Antisemitism cannot be ignored, cannot be tolerated and cannot be allowed to continue. We can’t allow it to continue. It must be confronted and condemned everywhere it rears its very ugly head. We must stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters to defeat Antisemitism and vanquish the forces of hate. That’s what it is.
Through the centuries the Jews have endured terrible persecution. And you know that. We’ve all read it. We’ve studied it. They’ve gone through a lot. And those seeking their destruction — we will seek their destruction.

President Donald Trump

The Pittsburgh Police, patrol officers deserve special kudos. They ran to the sound of gunfire without hesitation. Their intervention put the shooter off his game plan and in all likelihood saved lives.  I’m not stinting SWAT and the rest of the Department, they did a great job.

It turns out that wholesale condemnation of Antisemitism is not stylish. There are individuals that practice Bad Antisemitism and others who are Antisemitic in a good way.

Bad Anti-Semites

Good Anti-Semites

The moral of the story is: It’s okay to hate Jews, as long as you follow the correct political persuasion. Up is down. Good is bad. Bad is good. Hate isn’t hate, as long as it is for a good cause. My terrorist act is good, yours is bad.

It is all Trump’s fault, because the beautiful people said so.
