People get confused when confronted with Constitutional issues. Does freedom of the press mean unfettered access to all comers without regard to other factors? Here is a scenario that may help you to answer, ISIS goes to their friends at CNN and obtains press credentials for six suicide bombers. They show up at the White House Press room complete with suicide vests. Does the Secret Service have to let them in, of course, not.?What about rude and abusive people caught lying repeatedly?  

The First Amendment says the government cannot censor the news.  Show me where it says the government must enable the reporters. Nobody in the United States is under compulsion to talk to the press. The last time you stepped in dog shit, did you talk to it?  Did it do any good? Individuals and government have no obligation to explain to the press why, about anything. 

Why would anybody in their right mind surround themselves with liars, cheats and political hacks whose only agenda was to hurt, embarrass, and damage the administration by any means possible? A White House press credential is a privilege, not a right. Here’s a question never asked; How many requests for White House Press credentials are turned down every year? How come we don’t hear about those that don’t make the cut. I think the President of either party has the right to pick and chose the pool of reporters that make up the “white house press corps.” The MSM complains about White-house-bars-cnn-nyt-lat-buzzfeed-politico-from-todays-press-gaggle-with-spicer/

My suspicion is that if the White House exercised its veto over prospective reporters we would see a change overnight.

I am not saying that the nation’s news editors are pimps. What I’m saying is that they have the scruples, morals, and vision of pimps.
