No Firearms, No Problem

I understand why and I approve of the sentiment, a new Tennessee Law is fixing to go into effect.  I can’t help thinking that all of this back and forth is unnecessary. Back in the day I mighta had a drink or two in joints where they asked, “You carrying?” If you said no, they issued you a gun.

Today concealed carry license holders who are forced to leave their guns outside in order to patronize a business that bans firearm possession on the premises have a legal alternative.  No, they cannot bring their guns with them. However, if while disarmed against their will, they are injured the business owner is liable for the injuries or death.  Talk about a new twist on slip and fall cases.

People without a concealed carry license do not have a recourse under this law. George Will called it the Balkanization of America where Americans are broken up into special interest groups, subgroups, and cliques, oftentimes by race, sex, religion and now armed or unarmed.

I suppose I am not giddy with joy because I routinely ignore the no handgun signs without consequence.
