No Pulitzer’s Here

The Trump/Breitbart Brouhaha continues to perk along.  I’m not sure I am able to identify the controversy.  Let me sum it up, it could be I missed an essential part at the beginning which would color how one views the ending.  Trump gave a speech and was moving away from the podium to wards the exit, in much the same manner as a warthog leaving a watering hole.

Trump was immediately surrounded by a pack of hyenas nipping at his heels and jostling one another for position.  At one point a Breitbart reporter, Michelle Fields moved in for the kill.  As she prepared her master stroke the pack shifted, she was knocked out of position and almost trampled.  She lost her place at the feeding frenzy and for that somebody must be to blame.

The first rule in a free for all is there are no rules.  I worked with a Sergeant that had earned the nick name the “mini brute”.  Yeah he was a little guy.  The thing is when he pulled his nightstick everybody got hit, bad guys, cops, bystanders, I am not sure the guy walking his dog two blocks away was safe. He didn’t start fights but he damn sure put a stop to them. If you are gonna fight outside your weight class, you have to be able to back it up.

Somewhere in the article is a comment about Ms. Fields rights being violated.  What Rights? She is employed as a reporter.  She has a press credential. Her rights ended right there. Honey, hike up your panties, sharpen your elbows and dive in. You chose the forum, the rest is up to you.  It is called competition.

I have no patience with reporters that believe they have a divine right to put themselves in hostile situation, totally unprepared, with no realistic appreciation for the risks involved and then complain that the experience did not meet with their expectations.

Some pundits have attempted to shift the blame to Trump, saying that incidents involving press mistreatment are common in the campaign.  I would point out there is a second common factor that the press haven’t considered, the press. This sentiment is akin to saying, “dressed that way she was just asking for it”.  Let the screams of indignation begin.

I suggest that a little remedial training is called for and this may be just the thing, His Girl Friday the only accurate portrayal of the press, I’ve ever seen.

I couldn’t help noticing that in the accompanying wildlife video the hyenas apparently are defecating as they tear their victim apart.  Is this a trait shared by the press?  Might this have been the real reason for the slip and fall?

The intrepid girl reporter has now resigned, that’ll show ’em.
