History Repeats

Henry Stimson, “Gentlemen don’t read each other’s mail.”

Brennan, CIA Director states he doesn’t regard the CIA as a spy agency.  The guys at Powerline are surprised and disheartened.

It has happened before, as Secretary of State in 1929, Henry Stimson proclaimed, “Gentlemen don’t read each other’s mail,” as he shut down the State Department’s cryptanalytic office.

In 1940 FDR appointed Stimson as the Secretary of War.  Stimson demonstrated that he did not make the same mistake twice and proved to be an effective Secretary of War.

Hang around long enough and everything seems to come around again.
