I have seen two versions of events. In one the meeting was over and Toobin forgot to log out. The second version is that the meeting was ongoing. The participants had broken up and then reassembled. Toobin apologized for his indiscretion.

“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers,” Toobin said in a statement to Motherboard. “I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video.”

I have read his apology three times. It still comes out the same way. Toobin is not apologizing for spanking the monkey during a meeting. He apologized for getting caught. Keep in mind this was a CNN meeting. The assemblage came together to discuss ongoing CNN efforts at slamming Trump. In that context the apology makes sense.

Bopping the bishop or given the coed nature of the meeting getting some stink finger is accepted at CNN. The only thing that is lacking is shifting the blame onto Trump. I can hear Toobin now, “abusing Trump gave me a woody, it’s Trumps fault.”
