Another Legendary French Last Stand

Remember when the Republic and society as we know it almost collapsed because two cocksuckers couldn’t get a wedding cake from a specific bakery? The the owner declined to perform because of religious considerations. There will be a tendency to conflate the actions of the moralizing baker with those of a denizen of the lower reaches of the fashion world. Sophie Theallet, a French National, has announced that she will not design fashions for First Lady Melania Trump. Course rather than being sued, boycotted and vilified in the press Ms. Theallet is being applauded for her brave stance. There is really no comparison between the two events. The bakery owner and the love birds each took a principled stand. The fashion designer demonstrated the level of cynicism one would expect from a “designer” who would afflict an already troubled world with her creations.

There is only one problem, in the case of the bakery we have, two gay blades standing in front of the display case at a bakery, cash clutched in sweaty hands, hoping to at least consummate a sale, since they can’t consummate a marriage. However, there is no indication that Ms. Trump was aware that Sophie Theallet existed, knew anything about fashion, or had done anything worthy of her attention. Yup, sure is brave, “I’m not gonna sell you a dress you didn’t know existed and that you wouldn’t be caught dead in, so don’t ask.” Ms. Theallet has just had her fifteen minutes of fame, exit scuttling along the baseboard, like a cockroach, stage left. Refusing-serve-customers-dont-agree-suddenly-cool.

What have we learned here? Leftist outrage has a very short shelf life. Facts are never allowed to get in the way. We have denizen of the fashion industry from somewhere down around the cockroach level, announcing that she will not design for the incoming first lady. There is no indication that the first lady intended to patronize the cockroach, needed a dress, or was disappointed at her loss. I don’t see nobility in Ms. Theallet’s stance. I see crass self promotion, delusions of grandeur, and a haughtiness that does nothing for haught culture. It is kind of the way the French have always fought, talk big when nobody’s looking and surrender at the first available opportunity once you have the foe’s attention.

For what it’s worth Ms. Trump, I recommend you stay away from Theallet’s products. Based upon what I’ve seen on Ms. Obama those dresses will make your ass look big.
