Breitbart is reporting that a professional video game player is being sent to counseling for “trash talking” an opponent. No word if the opponent is in recovery because of the abuse he received.
Huh? Professional video game player? I didn’t know there was such a thing. I decided to visit the Bureau of Labor statistics. They maintain a list of every job known to man. It is called the Job Index. One caveat, in using the list, is that it was created by the government. That means the most direct route is not necessarily a straight line.
First I tried Professional Gamer, nope, then actor, nope and then recreation workers, struck out again. Back to the drawing board, I tried computer training and development specialist. Define training. If the game involved was like the game “operation”, it might fit. According to the Bureau of labor statistics, “Training and development specialists plan, conduct, and administer programs that train employees and improve their skills and knowledge.” I am not sure this would work if the program the training and development specialist is pushing involves killing and dismembering zombies, but that may be just me.
The next question that occurred to me is the abused employee entitled to workman’s compensation. According to FindLaw it is possible to make a claim for PTSD. The article points out:

Most claims for workers’ comp relating to PTSD fall into two categories:
PTSD which is brought on by a traumatic experience while in the scope of employment (for example, cops witnessing deaths, teachers witnessing school shootings, etc.); or
PTSD due to out-of-work trauma which is triggered by circumstances at work.
Of course the traumatic experience is all virtual violence and mayhem, inflicting virtual injuries with virtual weapons. With lawyers involved you can be sure that the payoff will be real.
People have way to much time on their hands.
