I don’t march lockstep with the President’s views but I usually find a point of agreement with what he says. I have a penchant for overstatement. I appreciate the intended reaction his statements, sometimes trigger. However, I disagree with his characterization of the current impeachment climate as a “witch hunt.”
During a trip to New York the President made that comparison according to USA Today. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/09/24/donald-trump-calls-impeachment-inquiry-witch-hunt-garbage-harassment/2432554001/
Adam Mill, in The Federalist Blog also disagrees with Trump. In his article, Mill argues that President Trump does a disservice to the witch hunters of Salem circa 1692. He has a point. https://thefederalist.com/2019/10/10/6-ways-the-salem-witch-trials-were-fairer-than-democrats-impeachment-inquiry/
A more appropriate comparison would be to describe democrat efforts as a “show trial.” The same type practiced by the democrat party mentor, Chairman Mao.
