One of the problems with liberals is that they are so fundamentally dishonest they will say or do anything in support of their cause. That includes misstating the law and outright lying. When you lump the MSM in with the liberals, then there is nobody to demonstrate that they are lying or at the very least mount a challenge to their misrepresentation.
The problem is compounded when the City is Houston, governed by a Mayor that sees no excess in any gay agenda and a District Attorney who has no problem lying to the courts it serves to protect liberal, fellow travelers sit silently on the sidelines.
Published on Houston Gay Pride website is notification that firearms are not allowed at any Pride Houston events. It then quotes the standard boilerplate of 30.06 of the Texas Penal Code as it applies to criminal trespass.
The problem is that much of the festivities are in the form of a parade through downtown and a street fair. The purpose of TPC 30.06 is to give land and business owners control over their own property. It does not apply to city streets and sidewalks. The City of Houston may opt to close streets, erect barriers and set up pedestrian control points, for purposes of crowd control, but that is not the same as asserting one’s rights as a landowner.
I might even go along with the scheme if the Gay Pride folks were charging admission. No admission, no entry, but I see no indication that this is the case. I find it ironic that these champions of civil rights for gays are so quick to set in place a system of random searches not based on probable cause, profiling, and exclusion of a class of people based on their behavior and beliefs.
Being a liberal fascist is never having to say you’re sorry. I have an idea, if the Pride folks are so right and everybody else is wrong, let’s put their model to work. Next Saturday night, in Montrose, HPD will set up check points and flying squads of officers to stop and search people at random. Those that do not possess condoms will be given a free three pack and instructions on their use. Those that refuse to accept the condoms will be escorted out of the district. Safe sex, you know.
