Then and Now

You would think the heroism never goes out of style and that the measure of what is heroic is unchanging. If only it were so. From where I stand there is only one hero in the posting. Liberals and democrats would probably beg to differ.

Lt General Charles “Chuck” Pittman

Marine Lt General “Chuck Pittman passed away. Here is his obituary.

As a Lt. Col., Pittman grabbed another pilot and two crew members and jumped in a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter and headed toward New Orleans. A sniper Mark Essex had taken a position atop the Howard Johnson’s motor lodge in New Orleans. From this position Essex killed three police officers and wounded more.

Pittman loaded up some New Orleans police officers and started orbiting the hotel. The police officers were able to engage the sniper and end the incident. Here is a photo of Essex. In liberal quarters he is identified as an oppressed hero, murdered by the establishment.

The Marines went after Lt. Col. Pittman for using Marines and equipment in a civilian law enforcement situation. A Congressman put a stop to that nonsense and Pittman eventually retired as a Lt General in 1990.

The democrat hero of the moment is this sorry SOB. While going through Ranger school he stole food from his classmates. His cadre tried to keep him from graduating. Once out in the military world, he was ever alert to opportunities for self promotion. Assigned to the White House Intelligence establishment he recreated conversations and events he was not party to and effectively demonstrated that any loyalty he had, was to himself.

In keeping with my policy of not naming scumbags, I won’t.
