Nomination for Hero Badge

This Cop is in deep shit!

A Las Vegas cop engaged in a high-speed pursuit. During the pursuit, the two suspects fired at the officer over thirty times. The officer returned fire from the moving patrol car. It is unknown how many shots he fired, but he reloaded during the pursuit. The gun pictured is a Glock, so a guestimate would be more than fifteen less than thirty. The bullet holes in the windshield are from his shooting.

I suspect that Las Vegas policy on officer shooting is fairly standard. That means firing at a moving vehicle is highly restricted. Chances are, firing from a moving vehicle is strictly prohibited. The officer violated both policies. But that isn’t what is going to get him in trouble. He can probably go before the shooting review board standing on his head and get an attaboy.

The unforgivable sin, the thing that will not be overlooked is: HE SHOT OUT THE WINDSHIELD OF HIS PATROL CAR! WHO IS GOING TO PAY FOR THAT? MY PATROL CAR, MY PRECIOUS PATROL CAR!

I don’t know what it is about Chiefs of Police but the patrol car fleet occupies a special place in their hearts. I made the mistake once of pointing out to the Chief that I regarded a patrol car as a disposable item, like paperclips. I had to drive the department shitboxes for several weeks until he got over his mad.
