The criminal justice system is always on the alert for alternatives to incarceration. Sometimes these alternatives are not fully thought out and there are impediments to successful application built in.  It always struck me as highly ironic that after we arrested the drug dealer for dealing out his house, a judge and probation officer thought it was a great idea to put the dealer back in the very same house on “house arrest”.  This next example isn’t quite so straightforward, but here it is:
