A fifteen year old shoots seven people in a Wauwatosa mall. The mayor gives a press conference proclaiming his outrage that the shooter didn’t obey the “Gun Free Zone” signs.

None of the articles I have read have identified the type of weapon used. Since the shooting took place in a crowded mall, I’m going to guess it was a pistol. A fifteen year old cannot legally possess a pistol… but the sign!
It is generally considered to be a felony to shoot random people. Law abiding people generally refrain from such activity…. but the sign!
I guess it is just me. All a gun free zone sign does is ensure that a shooter who chooses to ignore such a warning will remain undisturbed in the kill zone.
I could go on and on about what is wrong with the Mayor’s mindset. But why bother? He wouldn’t understand. The power of stupidity is strong in this one. When the citizens of a community elect an idiot like this, they deserve every bad thing that comes along.
