A state’s attorney’s office in Illinois has welcomed its newest member: Hatty the black lab. The 2-year-old dog was sworn into the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office on Tuesday, placing her right paw over a law book during the ceremony.

This is the same States Attorney, Kimberly Fox, who said she recused herself from the Jussie Smollett case and then tanked the prosecution. It used to be that taking an oath meant something. For democrats, oath taking is nothing more than a photo op.

I believe that dogs are entirely capable of loyalty, until death if need be. But that loyalty is not rooted in the intellect. Dogs do not have the capacity to call upon God. They don’t have the intellectual capacity to give voice to an oath. I guess if one doesn’t believe in God then swearing an oath to God has no consequence.
An Oath used to mean something:
Once upon a time, an oath taken by a public official meant something, consequences notwithstanding, as dramatized in the Hollywood classic movie of more than 50 years ago, A Man for All Seasons. The movie depicts the courage of Sir Thomas More who took the taking of an oath a serious matter. More is denounced as a traitor to King Henry VIII and eventually executed when he refuses to recite an oath he knows to be false. Sir Thomas believes the oath itself to reflect the very essence of his character.

Liberals have reduced terms like honor, duty, courage and country to platitudes. Even as they are uttered, by liberals and democrats, the terms are essentially meaningless.
That is why swearing in ceremonies for dogs tugs at liberal heart strings. Liberals reading this will have absolutely no idea that there is an essential conflict, in the act.
