My latest novel is now available on Amazon Kindle. It is the third book in the UNIT series. I think it can stand alone. However, it would probably benefit the reader (and me) to begin at the beginning and order the previous books.
When last seen Sophie and the UNIT were sailing off to the Carribean to frolic in the sun and buy Ecstasy. Meanwhile Buck was meeting with a Devil’s Scalawag emissary to arrange a convenient time for the outlaw bikers to kill Chris Gentry. What are friends for?
Things have settled down, at the UNIT. The investigators find themselves handling cases that will never make the headlines. Did Chief Thorpe really hire a cadre of midget investigators? Is “Pop the Clutch Chewy” about to become the next dope kingpin in Hays City? Into this mayhem comes the newest addition to the UNIT, Sharon James. A seasoned investigator? Nope, a hundred-pound dripping wet University cop who parlayed a parking ticket into a riot and took out the best hope the football team had to make it into the national championship. Found wanting by her Chief, does she have what it takes to make it in the UNIT? Find out.
No high-speed chases or shootouts. Dope seizures that can be carried in one hand. Their exploits may not be ready for prime time. But they are never boring. In between the headline grabs is the day-to-day activity of an investigative unit. It’s not sexy, but it keeps the guys busy and out of a patrol car assigned to midnight shift.
This is the third book detailing the exploits of the UNIT, a narcotics task force operating in central Texas in the recent past. The author has a passing familiarity with the topic. He retired after being a cop for thirty years; fifteen of those years assigned to just such a task force. Did any of the exploits recounted in the story ever happen? Maybe, then again it is a work of fiction.
All three books are 99 cents each or free to members of Kindle Unlimited. Make bathroom time fun! Buy the books. Don’t forget to submit a review!
