What is Old Is New Again

Every generation likes to think that they have come up with something new and edgy. A little research will show that the old adage “been there, done that, got the t-shirt usually applies. The latest photos from Kabul illustrate what I mean.

Back in the fifties it was phone booths. Just how many people can be stuffed in a telephone booth. These days the younger generation is liable to ask, “what’s a telephone booth?”

The 1960’s saw an advance. Gone were was the telephone booth. It was replaced by a VW Bug. The activity also became coed. The current generation askes what’s a VW Bug and how many of the participants are trans?

The venue has changed. Gone are the telephone booths and VWs of yesteryear. Now it is wetbacks in semis.

In more modern times the VW has given way to semi trailers.

Given the steady progression, this latest incarnation was predictable. This isn’t a panicked evacuation from Kabul. It is merely an effort to eclipse the current Guinness Book of World Records for vehicle stuffing.
