New Miss Nevada Crowned

Miss Nevada? I like puppy dogs, whirled peas and pretty dresses

Chances are you have heard of the “Black Sox Scandal” of 1919. A gambler by the name of Arnold Rothstein payed members of the Chicago Cubs to throw the World Series. The players were acquitted in court but banned from baseball. Rothstein achieved near legendary status as a conman.

What do the Black Sox of 1919 and choosing a guy to represent Nevada in a women’s beauty pageant have in common? One is a sporting event and the other a beauty pageant. One hundred plus years separate the two events. Therein lies the key. Nobody has mounted a credible challenge to Arnold Rothstein in all those years. Until now!

I predict that Miss Nevada will be the next Miss America. It will be a double crowning ceremony. One will go to the dude in the dress. The second crown will go to the guy that engineered the con job and “out Rothsteined” Arnold Rothstein.

All these years I thought the evening gown competition was to demonstrate elegance. This year the evening gown competition is so that Miss Nevada’s balls don’t hang below the hemline.
