There are moments in history that are celebrated in images. These images symbolize the ability of the human spirit to confront adversity, go into the unknown and ultimately triumph. It is somehow ironic that in this era of selfies, the grand achievement photo is absent. The ability to capture images has never been more prevalent, yet iconic images are all from the past. It might be that time has to pass. Or it could be the bar has been lowered? Who can forget these images, from the past?

I believe I’ll miss Connin’s picture. I don’t want to know if he is a spitter or swallower. This probably categorizes me as homophobic. What bothers me is that there is a segment of the current culture that would dismiss, Columbus, Hillary, MacArthur and Armstrong, in favor of Connin.
Look at how they treat George Washington.
I guess I will endeavor to persevere.
