Book Burning in the New Millennium

Liberals and Nazis share a movement

Dr. Seuss books delisted from ebay. Sales price soars.

EBay has delisted Dr. Seuss books. I was ahead of the the Dr. Seuss vogue and never got into the books. Dick and Jane is a different story. At any rate the Cat in the hat and company are now deemed racist. How can creatures that never existed, that came in a wide variety of colors and existed in an imaginary world be racist? Simple. Liberals are the epitome of racism. A liberal doesn’t have to convince, only condemn. They learned that from this guy.

Here is the eBay policy and the link to it. Keep it in mind. It could be just me, but it seems that in order to implement such a policy against intolerance and to celebrate diversity eBay must first practice intolerance and reject diversity.

Why does eBay have this policy?

In order to promote trust and respect among our diverse community of members, eBay does not allow items that promote or glorify racial, sexual or religious intolerance, or promote organizations that hold such views.

Call me cynical. To the ideological ebay is engaged in virtue signaling by banning Dr. Seuss books. However there is another explanation. Rampant capitalism, supply and demand! eBay banned “McElligot’s Pool” If one searches hard enough the book can still be found on eBay. The going price? A mere $1250.00. An unbanned copy of “Horton Hears a Who” goes for under $10.00 on eBay. A similar price increase for the banned books is reflected on Amazon.

I could be talking out my ass. I have no idea how eBay makes money off of people that use the site. I’m going to guess that eBay profits are tied to the sales price of the item. Which would you rather, a percentage commission on a $10 item or a $1250 item?

When I started down this path I intended complain to eBay that sales of the Bible were in violation of the their policy regarding the sale of prohibited offensive materials policy.

Consider some of the concepts expressed in the bible:

  • Murder, Cain killed Able.
  • Wholesale slaughter, Moses drowned an entire Egyptian army. Who can forget what happened to Lott’s wife? A whole city wiped out.
  • The whole Jesus bit? He surrounded himself with male disciples. No gays, transgender, or woman allowed. Where is the inclusiveness?
  • Talk about hate speech, gays are relegated to the fiery pits of hell.
  • There are no shades of gray, moral relativity doesn’t exist.
  • People are expected to accept responsibility for their actions.

One thing the Bible has, that is consistent with eBay policies. In the Bible, they crucified a guy for practicing free speech and espousing religious views to which the government objected. That is an action eBay can support.

I chickened out. Knowing that liberals are unable to identify irony, I figured eBay would ban the bible and I would get blamed.

You would think that PETA would rise up in outrage over the treatment of the Cat in the Hat, nope. Who is next?
