I got to thinking about the concept of a Safe Space. I was operating under the Crime Prevention concept of the mid 1970’s. That is a public or private property that offer’s temporary refuge usually by keeping a porch light on in case a passerby felt threatened.
I consulted Wikipedia the lazy researcher’s authority for almost right and half baked facts. I found out that I was wrong. They define a safe space as:
In educational institutions, safe-space (or safe space), safer-space, and positive space are terms used to indicate that a teacher, educational institution or student body does not tolerate anti-LGBT violence, harassment or hate speech, thereby creating a safe place for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students.
So, if you are heterosexual you are on your own. You are subject to abuse with out recourse. Then I saw a video that seems to indicate a “safe space” is not a physical location but a concept. The recommended visualization should include both puppies and kittens:
Okay, everybody likes kittens and puppies but they would seem to have limited practical application. “STAY BACK OR THE KITTEN GETS IT”. Even using the puppy as a blunt object doesn’t seem sufficient when faced with:
This on the other hand will get their attention:
Then it occurred to me the ideal safe space existed and has been lost. It has always been within reach, the color scheme changed a little bit, styles are different but the ideal safe space is achievable for women everywhere:
I am glad I was able to clear that up.
