The link proclaimed: “Flight Attendant Delivers Baby in the Air.” Click on the link and we find that a passenger gave birth during a domestic flight.

Maybe it is just the way my mind works. My first reaction was, hmmmm delivering a baby in the air. Was mama flying or is this a feat worthy of Tinker, to Evers to Chance? None of those guys look like obstetricians.

And though Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers and Frank Chance last played together in 1912 – indeed, all have been dead more than 60 years — their names live on among baseball fans.

All because of an eight-line poem.

These are the saddest of possible words:

“Tinker to Evers to Chance.”

Trio of bear cubs, and fleeter than birds,

Tinker and Evers and Chance.

Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble,

Making a Giant hit into a double—

Words that are heavy with nothing but trouble:

“Tinker to Evers to Chance.”

Franklin P. Adams, a New York Evening Mail columnist

My view of life may not be correct, but it is entertaining.
