Modest Proposal #781

I got to thinking about John Quincy Adams. Before the Bush family there were John and John Quincy Adams, the first father and son to occupy the White House. John was the Second President and John Quincy the Sixth. After leaving the Presidency, John Quincy Adams was elected to the House of Representatives. He held that position until his death.

John Quincy Adams, Sixth President of the U.S.
Adams won election to the House of Representatives, where he would serve from 1831 to his death in 1848. He remains the only ex-president to be elected to the chamber

Now that Trump has taken up residence in Palm Beach, Florida he ought to consider following John Quincy Adams example.

Mar-a-Lago, is in the 21st Congressional District The representative is Lois Frankel, who has been in the House since 2012. and won her contested election, in 2016, by 28 points. That margin slipped around ten points in 2020. Her opponent was a less than ideal.

If you look hard enough you will find that democrats lost a significant number of seats in the 2020 election. They still hold the house but not by much. It is probably to much to expect, but I think that Trump ought to put his ego aside and run for the 21st seat.

Imagine Trump as a Congressman. Now imagine the House flipping Republican. Even as a freshman Congress critter Trump would be eligible to become speaker of the House. Actually, Trump is eligible to be Speaker of the House right now. There is no requirement that the speaker be elected to Congress or be a member of the majority party.

Most readers are probably not aware of that fact. I bet Nancy knows and it keeps her up at night. Kinda puts the sham Impeachment action into a different perspective, doesn’t it?
