Fake Gun, Real Robbery in Des Plaines, Illinois attempted to a local stop and rob with an airsoft gun. The clerk pulled his own gun and stopped the robbery. The clerk chased the suspect out of the store firing at him along the way.  No body was hit but the commotion caused a police response that resulted in the arrest of two sixteen year old thugs.

The pair were charged with armed robbery, for this venture and five more robberies for previous outings.

I would be interesting to see how this one gets scored in the statistical follies. The offenders used a toy gun.  No firearm was involved, so no violation of firearms laws.  Existing firearms law worked.  However, in the Penal Code when an offender displays a firearm (even a toy) that reasonably causes alarm in another person then there is an armed robbery.  On the other hand, the anti gun crowd typically will not concede that the clerk’s firearm led to the arrest of he offenders and therefore did nothing to stop a crime.

It all depends on what the meaning of is, is. Or something like that.
