My theory on protestors is that it isn’t necessarily the cause, but the stage provided, or the self-gratification of the protestor. Abbie Hoffman of the Chicago Seven (1968 Democratic Convention) claimed he wasn’t driven by the various causes he espoused, but by the blowjobs from all the groupies.
A protestor from the Trans-Pecos Region of Texas has been arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant out of California for Rape (2) and drug possession. He walked away from his parole in early 2002. Pipeline-protesters-stand-by-arrested-leader-exposed-as-rapist. Seems like even the village idiot could figure this one out.
He set up housekeeping in the Big Bend area, think Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts all combined with a population of about two hundred. He began protesting the proposed oil pipeline slated for the region and emerged as one of its leaders or the movement.
The community activist fantasy came crashing down when he was required to produce identification to get his wife out of jail on bail. She got out; he went in. He is back to being just a plain old dope dealer, rapist, and fugitive. I’m not sure that his new title is a come down from community activist, more of a lateral transfer.
Course all his fellow protestors think he was an excellent guy and far as they know he has raped anybody lately. A lot of empty lands in the Trans-Pecos region and nobody to look over your shoulder. I guess, if you want to play that game, there is the old; ‘he’s paid his debt to society.’ Except, he hasn’t. The best that can be said is that he is an escaped felon who has not been caught fucking up in fifteen years. It is not the same.
Community activist, dope dealer, and a rapist all share a similar mindset. The status quo doesn’t apply to them. The activist ascribes injustice towards whatever group suits the narrative. The dope dealer, at some point, said I know what the law is, screw your law. The rapist in much the same manner said I gotta itch I’m gonna scratch. It doesn’t matter who I hurt. I don’t see one inch of movement towards rehabilitation or payment of the debt he owes to California.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
