Unintended Consequences #246

California legalized marijuana possession. This move was supposed to end the illegal marijuana trade. It didn’t, proving once again, that liberals can fuck up a box of rocks with a rubber mallet. The story with a link below.

According to Yahoo, news: While California legalized the recreational use of marijuana in 2018, illegal grows of the crop have been on the rise in the state. Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Narcotic Bureau identified over 500 illegal marijuana cultivations in 2021, increasing from the 150 identified in 2020, according to a June statement.

Keep in mind this story (below). The MSM won’t link the two but I will. Two weeks ago California politicians proposed injecting $100 million to support marijuana growers. It seems that the state imposed such onerous regulations and licensing requirements that legal marijuana growers were unable to comply and still make a profit.

The selling point has been make marijuana legal and it will no longer be the cash cow for criminal organizations. Legal growers will meet the demand. Except they can’t. Regulations, licensing and state interference with the marketplace make that impossible. Now you know why the illegal marijuana growing operations with no regulation, licensing fees and only occasional government interference have increased under legalization. Milo Mindbender would be humbled.

Remember the good old days, state supported market, regulations and taxes up the wazoo, a harbor, fake Indians and tea floating in the bay? Now the only fake Indian in sight is:
