Not Quite Right

Who You Gonna Believe, Me, or Your Lying Eyes?

Remember when body cams on cops were going to put a stop to all those white cops unjustifiably shooting black men? The cameras are out there. Cops are still shooting black dudes. Only problem is the cameras show that this dude needed shooting.

31-year-old Ronald Davis was a father, recently married, and had just graduated school. After allegedly bumping his vehicle into the back of a cop car, he stepped out of his vehicle and [St Paul police officer Steven] Mattson gunned him down.

Fight Back News

How can one tell that the bullshit is flowing deep and fast when reading a story? Above is the opening gambit for the bullshit that follows. The photo is that of the suspect’s car that “bumped” the patrol car. Use your everyday experience.

In accident investigation this would be characterized as a 12LF4. This means a straight on impact to the left front resulting in damage severe enough to require that the vehicle be towed. This is a significant impact, that goes well beyond a bump.

The tune is the same but the lyrics have changed. Police critics got their cameras. They ought to be happy, right? Nope. In St Pail the BLM crowd is shouting: “ignore the camera.” I’m surprised they have not characterized the camera as racist.

Here is a second take, by Andrew Branca an attorney who specializes in self defense legal issues. He provides the video and commentary that makes the case for the justified use of deadly force.

The St Paul police has equipped their officers with a body cam. So there is live footage of this idiot charging the officer armed with a knife. This is his third mistake, in order: (1) Do not drive into patrol cars, (2) Do not run up on patrol cars in a screaming rage. (3) Never, never, bring a knife to a gun fight.

Critics claim the officer did nothing to deescalate the situation. This is not true. Watch the video.

Two .40 caliber rounds to the chest and this dude went from a pumped up rage to a dying quiver, in moments. That’s deescalation in anybody’s book!

I’m not saying that the dead guy didn’t love his mama, sing in the church choir and was studying to be a brain surgeon and rocket scientist. But at the moment the officer pulled the trigger, that was the appropriate thing to do. It was brought on not only by the officer but also by the actions of the suspect. Why aren’t the critics pointing out that the deceased could have deescalated at any point and, in fact, avoided the whole chain of events?

The world is a better place with his passing. I’m sure his mama has mixed feelings. He’s gone, but now she has a ticket to the ghetto lottery!
