Nomination For A Hero Badge

I admit it I’m old.  I am from a different law enforcement era. We didn’t have all the toys that cops have available to them.  We did not have seminars available on line, via video and live from hundreds of vendors. We saw a problem, worked out a solution, executed the plan and addressed the problem.  It never would have occurred to us to call out SWAT and negotiators for this.

Authorities took back a Maryland National Guard facility Monday after a soldier barricaded himself inside.

The man temporarily took over the building at a National Guard facility in Glen Arm, barricading himself inside the building that houses the armory with military weapons. Authorities said at a press conference the weapons were in a vault with a code that the man did not have access to. He was not armed and did not take any hostages or work with anyone else, as far as authorities know. He was finally coaxed out by police and will likely face charges.

Authorities said they are unsure of his motives and have not released information about his identity or what branch of the military he serves. There were no injuries, The Baltimore Sun reports. The facility is 244 acres used for training as well as housing weapons.

Negotiators and the tactical team were dispatched to talk the man out of the facility.  Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2016/05/02/man-takes-over-national-guard-facility-full-of-military-weapons/#ixzz47Xy68UaZ

In my day we called people like him a burglar, there wasn’t anything to discuss, much less negotiate.  I understand he was having a bad day, sucks to be him. Two guys to nail down the perimeter and two to go in.  If it was a slow night and we were bored, we might even try the send in the dogs routine. Yell that you are preparing to send in the police K-9 while your partner barks in the background.  It works.  Probably delayed us getting our first patrol dog by two years.
