The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is bringing back the anti-crime units. The units were disbanded under the previous administration. It a bow to the times that the unit is given a new moniker: “Neighborhood Safety Teams. What’s in a name?
Next up the NYPD version of SWAT will change its designation from Emergency Service Unit (ESU) to SQUAT, (Sit Quietly Until Action Terminates).
Yeah, that will make a difference. I am reminded of a story about a San Antonio vice cop in the 70’s. He had worked vice for so long he was on a first name basis with all the street walkers. This limited his ability to work undercover. Didn’t stop him. Legend has it that on one Easter Sunday he cruised the whore strolls and racked up an impressive body count.
His secret? He visited a local Cadillac dealer and arranged the loan of a convertible Cadillac El Dorado.
He wasn’t done. Next, he obtained a Rabbit costume. He then set out to cruise the whore strolls. Two or three passes and the whores lined up to flag down the lecherous bunny in the Cadi. In the end, both sides obtained bragging rights. The old vice cop for showing that old age and treachery will beat youth and exuberance. The whores got to brag about the time they got busted by a horny Easter Bunny.
