The MSM is reporting that the firing squad execution of a cop killer was botched. Seems the three bullets fired missed the killer’s heart. That was five fewer bullets than he used to murder an off-duty police officer.
I don’t buy the botched bit. He was sentenced to death, and he ended up DRT (dead right there). I would agree that the execution was botched if he had survived the initial barrage.
Inquiring minds want to know. If he had survived, do the shooters get a do over? Or is the leader of the firing squad in the wings, pistol in hand, waiting to administer the traditional coup de grace? Here is how Wikipedia, the lazy man’s reference work, describes the act.
A coup de grâce (/ˌkuː də ˈɡrɑːs/; French: [ku də ɡʁɑs]ⓘ ‘blow of mercy’) is a death blow to end the suffering of a severely wounded person or animal.[1][2] It may be a mercy killing

The term is French and the literal translation means “Blow of Mercy.” Stop the presses! Could it be that administering a coup de grace takes the process out of the realm of execution and into the forum of mercy killing? Liberals like mercy killings.
What is needed is a PR campaign! The state no longer executes condemned inmates. Instead, it administers a coup to grace in order to relieve their suffering from feelings of guilt and remorse. It could work!
