Occam’s Razor

Read the headline and the subhead and then ask yourself; why would anybody depend on the MSM to keep them informed.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one… According to the headlines, a gunman shouting “Free Palestine” shoots up a wedding party at a country club. One person is killed and several are wounded. The MSM can’t figure out the gunman’s motive for the shooting.

The vast majority of MSM reports on the shooting ignore the killer’s statement or bury it so far down in the story that it gets lost.

Years ago, I was drinking coffee with an FBI agent trained as a criminal profiler. He pointed out that the technique didn’t work in all cases. He said, ” if you give me a case where an armed robber walks into a store and shoots the clerk. This, after the clerk gives him the money. And ask me for an opinion as to why. All I can offer is that ‘he was a mean sonovbitch!’

I blame the entertainment industry, be it books, movies, or what have you. The quest to find the motive is typically the main thrust of those fictional detectives. Sometimes the motive is plain to see.

Willie Sutton, the famous bank robber solved that riddle back in 1951. He was asked why do you rob banks? His reply, “because that’s where the money is.”

William of Ockham would probably be considered ignorant if he was dropped down into 2025. But for a 14th-century philosopher he was pretty smart. Back then he posited that:

Suggests the simplest explanation, requiring the fewest assumptions, is often the correct one.

Shit like this isn’t that hard to figure out.
