Nomination for Hero Badge

Fourteen DEA Agents stationed in Columbia were caught up in a scandal earlier in the year when it was revealed that they had used hookers provided for by the cartels.  The involved agents were suspended from 2 to 10 days.  Nobody was fired. I am not sure this defense was used but it seems reasonable to me.

Here is the story, it’s a tough job, .  Ten of the involved agents have subsequently received a performance bonus which is where the outrage for the story is centered.  Prostitution is legal in Columbia, except for Americans.  Official Americans are prohibited by US Policy from patronizing prostitutes even where it legal. It is kind of hard to defend these guys when they make it so damn easy.

Oh for the good old days when American law enforcement stationed abroad wouldn’t think of patronizing a prostitute.  A cook, maid, or laundress who could multi-task, that’s a different story.
