Which came first? The chicken or the egg? A cursory reading of the story (at the link) would probably cause one to think that guy must be a nut. Read it again. My question would be which guy? I walked into detention facilities for thirty years. More importantly, once in I could leave when I wanted to. In my experience, it takes more than a knock on the door to gain entry.
Man Impersonates FBI Agent in Failed Jailbreak of Luigi Mangione
I have no problem conceding that Mark Anderson, the guy who attempted to break an inmate out of a federal detention facility, is out there where the buses don’t run. Everybody knows you can’t do a jail break armed with a grilling fork and a pizza cutter. John Dillinger demonstrated that the proper tools are a bar of soap and black shoe polish. Anderson managed to gain entry to a secure area. He then put his nefarious plan into action.
Anderson posed as an FBI agent as part of his scheme. That’s the rub. Detention officers took him at face value, at least to the point that they let him in. What’s that say about the FBI? No matter outlandish or deranged a person might be that doesn’t negate the fact that they just might be FBI. Okay, maybe I’m being hard on the detention guys. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the players without a program.
FBI agents ain’t what the used to be.
Then again somethings never change.
